Boasting an outdoor patio and indoor seating area next to the fermentation tanks, Artifex Brewery is one of the best places for a beer in San Clemente. It's 21 and over, relaxed, and has a fun crowd that comes out. Artifex has a much better beer selection that most breweries in California which tend to only feature IPA beers. Artifex features some great beers including Afternoon Tea Brown Ale, Hibisc-This Ale, and No Name IPA. Artifex has a good variety of beers on tap and has a great vibe that sets it apart from the other breweries in San Clemente. The outdoor patio has a nice ambiance with hanging lights and a lively atmosphere. Food Truck Fridays are a great time to grab a brew and some good food during happy hour.

It is probably strange finding a wine bar in San Clemente in the list of best places to get a beer, but the truth is this place rocks both vibe and beer selection. There are plenty of beers available on draft and even more by the bottle. The Cellar is a great spot on Del Mar St. to check out at night or during happy hour on a Friday. The Cellar has a busy and fun atmosphere with tight seating and live piano music on select days. Get there early for the best seating. Perfect for keeping both wine drinkers and beer drinkers happy during happy hour. One of the best spots for a couples date, or starting spot for a night out in San Clemente.

Other Places to Get a Beer in San Clemente
Fisherman's at the Pier
There is a pretty basic selection of beer at Fisherman's, but you are getting a beer on the San Clemente Pier. The bar area is located in the restaurant area to the north side of the pier. Fun for a drink or two, and the rest of the downtown area is just a 10 minute walk away.
A little bit of a dive bar that is overrun by hipsters battling it out on pool tables. Ole's has your basic selection of domestic and import beer, they're open late, and it's usually busy and fun. This bar tends to be a mix, but is generally a younger crowd out for the night. Don't let the rough exterior fool you. If you can find a seat it's a good place to chill out for a few beers.
One burbon, one whiskey, one beer. Goody's is a step closer to a dive bar than Ole's Tavern. If it weren't so easy to find it would be San Clemente's dive bar. Goody's always has a good mix of young and old, civilian and military. They are open late and sometimes have live music on the weekends. There are plenty of TVs to catch sports or football early in the day.
Knucklehead's Sports Bar
San Clemente's true dive bar. Knuckleheads? If you know the name or location it would be a surprise. It's dark, gritty, and the crowd fits the bill. Craft beer is not in their vocabulary. For the sake and preservation of dive bars, San Clemente Guide will only give two nearly useless bits of information: there is a small outdoor patio for smokers and some space inside where bands play.
